Les
Parson was born in Rochdale, Lancashire in 1945.
He worked as a computer
engineer for eleven years in the West End of London before moving with
his wife and two children to Cornwall in 1974 to take up a post installing
Radar, Sonar and Ship to Shore Radio on the small fishing boats followed
by a short period repairing domestic appliances throughout the County.
A chance meeting with local
gallery owners, Leonard Rollason and Pamela Shead encouraged him to
forsake his pencil sketch/water-colour hobby for the more permanent
medium of oil on canvas and with their guidance he turned fully professional
in 1978.
Les is known internationally
as a published artist whose landscapes reflect a nostalgic look at the
westcountry's creeks, cottages, countryside, and coastline that has
made the demand for his work exceed his output.
